We often take our health for granted. For many of us, the only time we think of it is when we lose it.

Nothing will ruin retirement faster than having health issues. No one can guarantee you a healthy old age. But there are many things you can do to make your prospects more favourable.

  • You know to eat your veggies and limit fat and sugar and doing some sort of physical activity will help you to maintain a healthy weight.
  • Regular doctor visits will get ahead of any health problems early on. Health care costs are a major financial concern for retirees. Provincial health care doesn’t cover many services and prescription medications, especially for the chronic conditions that appear as we age, are becoming increasingly costly. Home care and long-term care facilities are expensive.

If you want to retire with confidence be proactive with your health. Take good care of yourself and prepare for the medical costs that will likely lie ahead.
